Recycling Guide - Small Metals

Metal recycling is one of the first forms of reuse ever. In the early days, metal was so sought after and difficult to extract that it was carefully collected and remelted from the start.

Only with the beginning of industrialization did society have an abundance of goods, which gave rise to the throwaway mentality. Valuable goods were increasingly carelessly disposed of in dumps and landfills. Only with the emergence of the green movement around 50 years ago did a rethink take place.

Metals in every kind and form are valuable and are far too good to simply dispose of in the trash. The extraction also has an ecological impact. For example, producing one ton of steel produces over 1.5 tons of CO2.

Small items such as pans, old tools, cables, clothes hangers and much more can easily be placed in the collection bag for recycling. During sorting, the metals are separated and recycled.
